DropPin — Privacy Policy

DropPin lets you save your places (with a map link, a message, and optional door/house photos) and send them to a WhatsApp number in one tap. This policy explains what data is involved. It's short because the app keeps almost everything on your device.

The short version: DropPin stores your saved places, photos, and settings only on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no ads. The only things that ever leave your device are (1) the WhatsApp message/photos you choose to send, and (2) map-tile requests needed to draw the map. DropPin does not sell or share your data.

What is stored on your device

Everything below lives in the app's private storage on your phone and never leaves it unless you send it yourself:

Your saved places — their name, the message you wrote, the map link, and the coordinates you picked.
Door/house photos you add to a place.
App settings, such as your default country code.

Uninstalling DropPin deletes all of it.

Location

The "use my current location" button (optional, when saving a place) uses your device location only while the app is open. The spot you pick is saved as a map link on your device. DropPin never tracks you in the background and never sends your location anywhere.

Phone numbers

You enter, paste, or share a phone number to open a WhatsApp chat (wa.me/<number>). The number is not saved to your contacts and is not stored by the app. It is passed to WhatsApp only when you tap "Send via WhatsApp." The app reads the clipboard only while open, to offer a number you may have just copied.

Photos

Photos you choose are kept in the app's private storage. They are shared to WhatsApp only when you tap "Send photo(s)."

Network access & third parties

To draw the map, DropPin loads map tiles from:

OpenStreetMap (standard map) — attribution "© OpenStreetMap contributors" is shown on the map screen.
OpenTopoMap (terrain) and Esri World Imagery (satellite) — also credited on the map screen.

These requests include the map area you are viewing, but no account or personal information. WhatsApp (Meta) receives a message or photos only when you choose to send them. DropPin includes no advertising or analytics SDKs.

Children

The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Your choices

You can delete any place or photo from within the app, or remove everything by uninstalling DropPin. Because no personal data leaves your device, there is nothing to export or delete on our end.

Changes to this policy

If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects privacy, this page will be updated and the effective date revised.
